About this tea
This is Sakamotoen’s shaded gyokuro leaf, stone-ground to a powder and sealed into single-serve 1g sticks, twenty to a pack, in the farm’s original packaging.
The stick format solves matcha’s two real problems: freshness and faff. Ground tea starts fading the moment it meets air, so individually sealed serves mean the twentieth cup is as bright as the first. And because the powder disperses in water with a quick stir, you get a proper cup at a desk, in a hotel room, or on a trail, no whisk involved.
Since you drink the whole leaf rather than an infusion, matcha carries everything the leaf has: the colour, the umami, the caffeine and theanine together. One stick, hot or cold water, thirty seconds.
